If their figures start in the late 19th century or early 20th century,
that's probably correct. The last killing of a human by a wolf (as
opposed to a wolf/dog hybrid) in the US was well over a century ago.
Wild wolves kill humans elsewhere in the world, mostly children in
impoverished Third World areas.
It is also quite correct that wolf/dog hybrids are much more dangerous
than pure wolves, mostly because of their unpredictability and lack of
fear of humans.
Which begs the question: what will prevent wolves that introduced into the
Olympic Peninsula from breeding with local feral dogs?
