i thinkthe discussion and the idea of a permanent rainbow village is both
beautiful and, at the moment, idealistic - in the naivete sense of the word.
the rainbow family has a beautiful vision whose time has come for sure,
but i would be skeptical of any experienced gatherer that would say they
think we could plant a rainbow gathering as they are currently
functioning into a permanent-type arrangement without either serious
alterations to our functioning patterns or serious problems erupting on a
pretty continuous basis. for instance the food situation or the dramatic
discrepency between the amount of work that needs to get done and the
number of people willing to DO IT. i have seen almost everyone i know in
the family turn into raging assholes from overwork and frustration,
myself included. also having a free and open village is a dangerous
invitation to the sleaziest of the criminal element - how would we deal
with this on a continuous basis? where would are financial support come
from?? what about all the garbage we create?? and if we're so
Earth-loving, what about our ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT!?
so i haven't sat in on any of the discussions of this topic, maybe it's
all been said before. i am just curious about any conclussions or
resolution around any of the subjects i mentioned.
love, heather
