Report File The City where Many Presidents Live

pix
Squirrels can be seen scurrying around residential neighborhoods, while on holidays the downtown quarter bustles with street performers. Boulder, Colorado is a small city of some 100,000 people (the surrounding county is of a little more than 250,000 people). Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, the city is blessed with a spectacular natural setting where the sun shines around 300 days a year, while it also possesses a college campus city side as the location of the University of Colorado.
The levels of education and income are both high here, and it is estimated that 80 percent of homes enjoy access to the Internet. Under these conditions, it is easy to see why Boulder is constantly ranked among American's favorite cities for settling down.

A natural environment ideal for outdoor sports, low crime rates, high levels of education and quality of life. These company presidents are in agreement on these and other features as being the attractiveness of Boulder. Many are interested in living here for the sake of their families and their interests alike, with the Internet now ready to extend a strong hand in support to these desires.
As a case in point, John Susi of "TiAMO Pasta" managed to eliminate his two to three hour commute. The employees who work for Jared Schutz of "Blue Mountain Arts," meanwhile, live all over the U.S., and report to work online from their homes.

The concentration of high-tech industry is also a distinctive characteristic of Boulder. Shelli Meyers of "Indra's Net" used a statistical approach to investigate several cities felt appropriate to doing business, and then upon visiting Boulder was totally smitten with the environment there.
Kei Izawa from Japan is enthusiastic in his praise as well: "The autonomous spirit of the residents in seeking to protect what they see as important is impressive." In fact, Boulder channels keen strength into its environmental stance based on a thorough commitment to "not over-develop." These and other traits qualify Boulder as a unique presence even within the state of Colorado, causing many to refer to it as the "Republic of Boulder."

In responding to our questions (see interviews), the 10 presidents all exuded a sense of ease and confidence. The reason may be because these replies were the words of people who have truly attained their own special lifestyles.
In describing the "Boulder temperament," several used the description "laid back." Clearly, this refers to the lack of an relentless "go-getter" attitude toward work and life in general. This description seems to apply to the atmosphere of the city as a whole. In other words, this is a community where people enjoy life and apply themselves to their work without excessive fuss and toil.
