Report File Canines Saved by the Internet

While there are people who think nothing of discarding pets, countries like Japan and the U.S. also have animal lovers who are appalled at this practice, and are involved in efforts to come to the rescue of such creatures. In the U.S., the normal approach to abandoned pets is to hold them in "shelter" facilities for a period of several days to half a month. After that, if no owner is found, they will be "put down."
There is information placed on the Internet by members of "Rescue Group" who actually visit these shelters to check up on the situations there and rescue the animals. Amazingly enough, for those interested in miniature pinschers, for example, there is a site devoted exclusively to that breed of dog.

Kristen says she monitors the "Rescue Group" websites daily. One day she happened upon "Carrie," a pinscher suffering from diabetes. The previous owner was unable to continue to provide the necessary care, and was on the verge of giving her up. Kristen, who was already acting as a foster parent for two other miniature pinschers, could not leave Carrie to her fate.
In this way, Kristen underwent the experience of becoming a foster parent through the Internet. In the case of "Gilby," meanwhile, she first adopted the dog, with her boyfriend Jim and then decided to raise it.

Today, this type of network has been established for almost all breeds of dogs and cats. In Japan as well, a wide variety of "pet foster parent search" home pages can be found. On these sites, people who share the love and heartbreak for the same animals, and who want to do something about the deplorable situation, are able to connect. Because of the links through the Internet, the sentiments of specific individuals are fusing into a major network possessing speed and action.

Kristen also has her own home page, where she reports upon her lifestyle with the three miniature pinschers in a humorous style. She refers to them as her "children," and writes that rather than offering the dogs a foster home: "I feel more like my children selected me to be their foster parent." Carrie's disease, unfortunately, will prevent her from living a truly long life, but it is also quite clear that Kristen is deeply satisfied in her commitment to fill the days which Carrie does have with love and happiness.
The Internet continues to forge new ties between people, and between people and pets.

Each one of Kristen's "children" has their own room, with each page filled with news of what they like best, their habits, little "happenings" and other loving descriptions. http//www.geocities.com/Petsburg/Zoo/5580/index.html 。
