The Goodnight Song (waltz time)
Sometimes I get down
spread my fear and anger all around
the world looks grey and I feel dead
and I know I've been living in my head
But then a change comes over me
I give up the battle and find I am free
I don't have to control everything
the play goes on and my part is to sing:
That the world's spinnin' fine tonight
the stars are all up shinin' bright
and we are just where we need to be
fulfilling our soul's destiny
Now it's said that Hell is a feast
silver and fine linen and hosted by the Beast
and the guests there can't bend their arms
they can't feed themselves and they starve
And Heaven is the same thing again
tables of food and elbows that won't bend
but no one is starving and half-dead
'cause they're feeding each other instead
and the world's spinnin' fine tonight
the stars are all up shinin' bright
we are just where we need to be
the Gardener's sowing and we are the seeds
that are growing into our hopes and our dreams
So goodnight, sleeptight humanity...
and goodnight,I'm alright and feelin'free
