Beginner: 7 - 8:30 PM.....$75. Greg will emphasize rhythms and tone qualities using the "Sing It Play It" method, plus proper technique for striking your drum and basic tuning instruction.
Intermediate/Advanced:
9 - 10:30 pm....$75. Greg will emphasize a deeper level of tone
and learning a variety of African rhythms. Drum rentals available
for $5 per class.
Each class limited to 20 students..
Denton: Every Tuesday, 6 - 7
pm beginning September 30 and ending October 21 [for 4 weeks] at
Voyager's Dream, 1306 W. Hickory, Denton, TX, CALL MIKE 940-381-2769 to

DETAILS: In
beginners class, students are taught basic
time-keeping and counting skills, plus techniques on improvising
in group drum circles, while learning simple Middle Eastern and
Latin rhythms.
In intermediate class,
students learn more complex rhythms in unusual time signatures,
plus soloing techniques and methods for creating a wide range of
sounds from the drum.
TEACHER: Jamal is a percussion instructor and dance accompaniment
at SMU. A member of D'Drum and Beledi Ensemble, he has been
playing drums for 35 years and has composed soundtracks for
theatrical production.
