NewsFlash/Tu.07oc97:
The Forest Service 'Group Use' rules (36 CFR§251,261) took effect
on "Black Friday" September 29, 1995. The Regs turned 2 years old last week...
(oh, those 'terrible twos')...
It's their 2nd Anniversary!
So we're having a (belated) '2nd Anniversary Bash' in DC!
Yup... To celebrate, we're Bashing The Regs On Their Birthday (a little late):
<<>> A new round of Public Petitions & Letters is being presented to
Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman pursuant to 5 USC §553(e)(1),
calling for Repeal of the Group Use regulations.
<<>> A copy of this whole package is going to the House Judiciary Committee --
c/o Chairman Henry Hyde of Illinois, and other Committee Members --
urging renewed Congressional oversight & action against these rules.
<<>> A report on the "Gathering Fire in Wyoming" is being submitted on staff
request to Sen. Larry Craig (R-Id), Chair of the key Agriculture
Subcommittee,
and to the Judiciary & Agriculture staff of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt):
A full inquiry is requested on the Big Fire of 3jy94,
and the Bigger Issues of Forest Service policy.
PCU Volunteers stumbled grumbled mumbled bumbled
& finally humbled enough to pull it all off,
after carrying this work load for 3+ years.
Wish U Were Here for the Big Bash...
Any & All are invited to join the clubbing soon.
Details at 4:20.
