VOLUNTEER IN THE BALKANS: A Balkan Peace Team Assessment/Workshop
for potential volunteers will take place January 8-11, 1998, in
the U.S., in Ossining, New York (25 miles N of NYC). Fee: $200
(Some financial assistance available).

The Balkan Peace Team, with teams in Croatia and Serbia/Kosovo,
focuses on providing an international presence and helping to
strengthen the work of local NGOs in the areas of conflict
resolution and human rights. Volunteers serve for one year or
more. This Assessment/Workshop is an opportunity for potential
volunteers to learn more about the Balkan Peace Team and about
methods and nonviolence strategies for carrying out nonpartisan
support for local activists. It is designed to help you determine
if BPT is the right project for you, and if you are the right
volunteer for BPT.

The Balkan Peace Team is the project of 13 international,
national, and local organizations based in Europe, including War
Resisters' International, the International Fellowship of
Reconciliation, and Peace Brigades International.
